Winter in North West Scotland

Winter adds another dimension to days on the Scottish mountains. With snow on the hills and the sun low in the sky, the views are spectacular. There is also something very special about the combination of coastal scenery and steep, snow covered mountains.

But winter brings its own challenges. The days are shorter and mountain walking in the cold and snow can be a lot more tiring. You need to know how to use crampons and your ice axe and be able to confidently descend if the weather turns.
