Approach to Pinnacle Ridge, Sgurr nan Gillean

You Know it is going to be a great day out scrambling when it’s 9am and you are wandering up towards Pinnacle Ridge in shorts and a Tee-shirt with no other parties around. David had finished off  his Cuillin Ridge Munros tick list with me the day before when we had baked under blue skies at the southern end of the Cuillin Range doing a round of Coire a’Ghrunnda. We had started on Sgurr Sgumain, then over Sgurr Alasdair to Sgurr Thearlaich then Sgurr Dubh Mor and finished on Sgurr nan Eag. Having started the Munros aged 65 David has now at 67 decided he had better do the Tops as well. We did Pinnacle Ridge as the classic (and by far the best) way to get to Knights Peak, the Top next to Sgurr nan Gillean. We then traversed to Am Basteir, The Bhasteir Tooth, Sgurr a Fionn Choire and Bruach na Frithe. By then I needed a dip in the river to cool off. Two wonderful days of scrambling organised at the last minute to take advantage of the good weather.
