trail running

0K8A2654-EditTrail Running – for runners keen to try off-road running on spectacular trails but with easy navigation and less emphasis on instruction.

A range of long and undulating paths and trails criss-cross the mountain ranges of the Far North West threading their way through remote ground – often along the banks of remote lochs and rivers. Other paths and trails traverse some of Scotland’s most remote peninsulas including the Slaggan, Coigach and Melvaig coasts.

Course options

We also offer the following ‘off the peg’ course option to individuals or groups. The three days are complimentary but you can opt for one, two or three days for one or more people.

Day 1 – Running Skills

A 5 – 7 mile run (or a distance of your choice) off-road run in a wild area. The emphasis will be on the best trail for the conditions but it will offer varied terrain in a spectacular area.

Day 2 – Navigation Skills

Easy running and walking while practising the essential navigation skills necessary for running in wilder areas. We’ll aim to take your confidence to the next level so you can tackle more ambitious routes in wilder areas.

Day 3 – Route Choice and Long Run

On the final day we’ll tackle a long run in or near to the Fisherfield Wilderness in the North West Highlands. We’ll be in the heart of this remote area for at least six hours and we’ll discuss the tactics and techniques needed for long trails in remote areas. The day will include plenty of breaks for rest and refuelling. Most importantly, the route will take us through some of the most spectacular (and remote) scenery in the UK.

About your instructor: Organised by ultra-runner and climber Colin Meek – a fully qualified and insured mountain leader and EMT (Emergency Medical Technician). See about us for more.

Before we offer any route options we’ll talk to you about your objectives and experience and tailor the day to your needs.

Maximum guiding ratio: 1:3
Dates: by arrangement
(or see Training Camps for scheduled courses)
1 Person Per day – £200
2 People Per day – £110 Each
3 People Per day – £75 Each
