Go Further!

Paul is on an extended trip to Yosemite climbing on El Cap with his pal Andy Kirkpatrick. They are being filmed by the BBC taking Andy’s thirteen-year-old daughter Ella up ‘Tangerine Trip’.  Conditions are very hot and the team are looking forward to getting started on the full climb in the next couple of days. He sent us these pictures today with this report:

“Aldo and I are sitting in the Mountain Bar having a burger as a treat to ourselves after a long day on TT. We borrowed two bikes and cycled down to El Cap from Camp Four in the first light. Walked up to the route, got harnesses on, jumared up the ropes Andy and Aldo had put up to the top of pitch two, then climbed all day and got the ropes fixed up to the stance of pitch four. We are not the fastest of teams but we are safe!!!!

Had a fun ride back in the dusky light and made it to camp as it got dark. Aldo couldn’t be bothered cooking so we are in the Bar, like I said. Andy and Ella must be on their way back from San Fran. right now. Feel overheated and tired. Big Walling is not climbing, it is just working with ropes and lots of gear to get up a big rock, good fun sometimes.”
